Scott Arfield pens emotional Rangers farewell message as long-serving star names 'best man at the club'

Scott Arfield has written a heartfelt emotional message to Rangers as he leaves the club after half a decade of service - naming Davie Lavery as the 'best man at the club'.

Arfield joined the Gers from Burnley in the summer of 2018, where he won two promotions with the Clarets alongside helping them to qualify for Europa League football. Using that nous at Ibrox, the Canada international has been a mainstay across three different managerial spells, helping Rangers to their first bout of domestic silverware since their plummet to the fourth-tier in 2012 and major European success as they reached the Europa League final last season.

But, with his contract up at the end of the month, Arfield will go separate ways with the Light Blues alongside Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Allan McGregor. Leaving behind some excellent memories, Arfield has penned an emotional tribute to those who he has left behind - alongside labelling masseur Lavery as the 'best man at the club'.

Posting on social media, Arfield wrote: “After five years the time has finally come to say goodbye to this incredible football club.

“I want to put on record my sincere thanks to all the people along the way from Gav and Caroline at the front door to the kit men, phyios and sports scientists, let by the best man at the club, Davie Lavery (Disco), analysts, kitchen staff, media team, Katy and Hannah looking after us in the office, team mates and coaching staff for making this such an incredible experience.

“From 55 to Seville, the Scottish Cup win and everything else in between, it’s been some ride. But none are more important than you, the fans. Players will come and go but you remain the one true constant at the football club. Your support was never taken for granted.

“The reception I received from you on my last Rangers appearance at Ibrox will live me and my family forever.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure. All the best, keep smiling.”
