A woman with two broken bones has been in agony for two months as she awaits an MRI scan to determine the extent of her injury.
Roseann Bryson was shocked when she was told the waiting time is around 36 weeks for the scan, which meant it could have been November before she was seen.
However, just two days after the Record contacted NHS Lanarkshire, Roseann was given an appointment for June 5 at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank.
Last night Labour’s health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie said it was “unacceptable” that Roseann should have to wait so long.
She said: “Her breakages could repair inappropriately in this time and cause her future problems. The Health Secretary must get a grip of the continuing crisis in the NHS.”
Roseann, 58, from Newmains, Lanarkshire said: “Thank you for getting involved. I am sure it is no coincidence that after you got in touch with the health board that I got an appointment.”
She added: “The pain is horrendous. This NHS has gone to pot.”
Judith Park, director of acute services at NHS Lanarkshire, said: “We are sorry this patient is unhappy with their care. We would encourage Ms Bryson to contact our patient affairs team so we can address the concerns she has raised directly.”
