A Scots homeowner who was ordered to repaint her front door is facing a fresh council probe over its latest colour.
Miranda Dickson, from Edinburgh, was previously warned that she faced a £20,000 fine if she didn’t cover up the bright pink shade by April this year.
The 48-year-old, whose New Town property sits within a World Heritage conservation area, painted it green but the makeover was rejected by Edinburgh City Council planners.
She has since changed it to an “off-white” colour but was stunned to discover that a fresh complaint had been made against her.
She told BBC Scotland : “I am speechless that someone has complained about this colour. As far as I was concerned this chapter in my life was closed.
"I'm shocked and distraught about it. It is definitely not the same colour as it was originally painted - it's an off-white. I feel bullied and that it has now become personal.”
The mother-of-two received the first enforcement notice last year which told her that the bright pink door did not meet the acceptable standards in the World Heritage Site.
She was told to repaint the door back to its original colour or apply for planning permission. After appealing the notice, the brand director applied for fresh planning permission to make the door green.
But as the fine deadline approached, Miranda painted it before receiving the outcome of her latest application.
Last week planners rejected the green colour prompting the homeowner to change it to an “off-white” before again applying for retrospective approval.
Miranda has now spoken out after discovering the council has received a fresh complaint about her property, which she has spent 18 months renovating after the death of her parents.
She’s calling for the council to have more clarity on what door colours are allowed after previously being told that “traditional colours” like dark red, grey, sage green, dark blue or black were acceptable.
But she then received a council enforcement letter telling her to paint the door white.
Miranda added: "It's not like my door is in a bad condition. It costs a lot of money to have the front door painted because they are very large. It's not a quick job.
"The council needs to act with more clarity over paint colour."
A City of Edinburgh Council spokeswoman said: "We have received a complaint alleging that the door has been repainted pink. We're currently looking into this and so can't say more at this time."
