A Scots woman dropped a whopping six dress sizes in just months after doctors told her she was pre-diabetic.
Joyce Adam, from Glasgow, knew she was out of shape but didn't think her weight was causing long-term health problems until she was given the life-changing news.
Standing at 4ft 10, she weighed nearly 11 stone and wore a size 20 when her GP told her she was pre-diabetic.
The 58-year-old had intended on overhauling her lifestyle when Covid hit in March 2020 but the stress of lockdown brought on binge eating.
Joyce said: "After a stressful time during Covid that I was going to enjoy Christmas 2020, which I did, and then decided I would continue my enjoyment well into 2021."
She began experiencing rashes, and frequent stomach and bowel issues that left her unable to sleep at night.
In March 2022, she visited her GP who took her blood to send it away for tests.
The results came back showing her blood sugars had risen so high that she was now in the type 2 diabetic range.
Joyce also had a BMI of 31.
She said: "It was the one thing I didn't want to happen but I knew I had brought it on myself.
"My GP then referred me to the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde weight loss health referral scheme.
"I wasn’t sure this was going to work but I had to do something, so joined WW (formerly Weight Watchers)."
A determined Joyce stuck with her weight loss goals and shed a stone within just three months.
Her Hemoglobin A1C had even dropped back to pre-diabetic levels by June.
Delighted Joy now weighs seven stone and nine pounds and has dropped six dress sizes - going from a size 20 to a size eight.
Revealing how she did it, Joyce insists it was all from overhauling her lifestyle and eating habits.
She said: "I started making changes to my lifestyle by cutting out all the rubbish I was buying, like crisps, chocolate, and fizzy drinks. I bought a fit bit, and walked a minimum of 10k steps a day.
"My eating has improved dramatically. I used to skip breakfast, have a roll and bacon for lunch, then dinner would be a pie and potatoes.
"Portions were too big, and I would have a takeaway at least once a week. I now make sure I have a breakfast of yoghurt and banana, lunch could be crumpets, and fruit, and dinner is a homemade meal.
"I have learned how to enjoy my food, while staying within my daily points, by buying that smaller bag of crisps, or only having a couple of squares of chocolate."
Joyce admits that she and her husband used to call the weekly shop the 'sweety run' but is now focused on getting healthier.
The changes she implemented have even seen her stomach issues 'disappear'.
She said: "I used to wear a size 20, but now I fit into a size eight….yes, I’m in half the size of clothes. My BMI has reduced from 31 to 23.5. I even managed to sneak into a cheeky size 6 jacket recently."
Joyce has praised the NHS for referring her to the WW's plan, which she says has 'changed so much in my life'.
