A two-year-old girl was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in in Dumbarton.

Police are now hunting the hit-and-run driver, who failed to stop after hitting the toddler on Napier Crescent at 8.30pm on Sunday, April 9.

Cops and ambulance crews attended, with the youngster rushed to Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment.

The youngster has since been released and police have launched a probe into the crash.

Despite "extensive enquiries", the force has been unable to trace the driver or vehicle involved, which is believed to be a silver or light coloured, small hatchback car.

Police Scotland have now appealed to the public in a bid to track down the motorist.

Sergeant Archie McGuire, of Argyll & West Dunbartonshire Road Policing Unit, said: “I would urge anyone who may have information to come forward.

“In addition, if you have dash-cam that could help with our investigation then please contact us.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting 3477 of April 9, 2023. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
