This is the moment when a young girl was caught on CCTV stealing an iPhone from a small Scots business in a cunning robbery.
The devious schoolgirl tricked the shopkeeper at iMex Repair on Busby Road in Clarkston, near Glasgow, before making off with the iPhone 11 on Saturday January 28. In the footage, the youngster - believed to be aged around 12 or 13 - can be seen entering the shop and having a look around.
She can then be seen speaking to owner of the shop, Shahzad Shaz, before he wanders over towards the window. Speaking to the Record, Shahzad explained the girl had asked him to see some speakers on display.
She then asked him to see a keyboard, as she pointed to one in the bottom far corner of the shelf. In the clip, Shahzad can be seen bending down to reach the product, before the scheming girl pounces - quickly reaching out and grabbing the device worth £329 which had been displayed in the window.
By the time Shahzad had risen, the phone was smuggled into her pocket with the shopkeeper oblivious to the robbery. She then took a picture of the keyboard with her own phone, before leaving the shop.
Shahzad, 45, told the Record: "She was very confident. It looked like she was trained.
"When I bent down, she took the phone in seconds. After about an hour I noticed a phone was missing. I knew I hadn't sold a phone that day, so I looked over the CCTV.
"I started searching and I was very shocked when I saw she had taken it. Everyone is struggling just now, especially small businesses so it was a big shock."
Shahzad said a woman who appeared to be the girl's mother was standing outside with a pram. He believes the whole thing was carefully planned and he's warning other small businesses to be aware of the pair.
He added: "I contacted police straight away and they are coming to review the CCTV but I wanted to inform local businesses to warn them in case this could happen to them.
"It looked like the mum was standing outside and was part of this. The iPhone 11 was advertised at £329. For a small business this is a lot of money to lose.
"It's hard times for all small businesses to survive at the moment and life is getting very costly. I just hope to make other small business owners aware."
Shahzad said the girl looked aged around 12 or 13 and spoke with an Eastern European accent.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 5pm on Saturday, January 28, to a report of a theft at a business premises in Busby Road, Glasgow. Enquiries are ongoing.”
