A former law student who is living in Glasgow has been selected by a massive international beauty brand as one of their boundary-breaking innovators nominated for an award for pushing international 'green gaming.'
Jade Macintyre, originally from Ayr, will be in with a chance to win 30,000 Euros to fund her new greener gaming initiative, a massive dream to help make gaming more sustainable in the YSL Beauty Push The Boundaries contest.
The first step would see gamers, professionals and those in it just for fun, asked to donate old or unused equipment, which would then be refurbished and passed on to less fortunate kids who would otherwise miss out on their first steps into a potential career, or just years of fun, in gaming.
Jade said: “I want to figure out a way to help gaming creators and gaming companies become more sustainable. I believe there is a way to recycle and reuse equipment more than we do already. As a gamer and creator, I know how much equipment I go through and have nowhere to put it once i’m done with it and often times it’s not usable enough for the average person.
“This is where we come in and we refurbish this equipment and then get it into the hands of those who are underprivileged, in the hope that this allows them the opportunity to get more involved in the space and potentially push them into related careers. Or just gives them an escape, which is sometimes even more important.”
Jade was approached by an agency running the campaign for YSL and jumped at the chance, as she had wanted to kick off an initiative to make gaming more sustainable but needed funding.
“I was scouted so they got in touch out of the blue, which was amazing. This prize would be a massive boost for my project and would really help take it to the next level. Financially I wouldn’t be able to do it all so this would really make a huge difference, as well as the connections to get it off the ground.
“I don’t think this will solve everything or even be the last thing we do. This is the starting line, this is the first step and with this it will hopefully increase awareness for others (creators and brands) to recognise the issues here and sign up with us or do similar to help.”
And now you can help Jade win and launch this game-changing initiative right here in Scotland by voting for her.
“I need as many people to vote for me so that I have the best chance of winning and bringing this project to life," Jade said.
“Just go to the push the boundaries website or you can find the links on my social media here. Voting closes on Monday – it’s a very short weekend window!”
Jade’s career has been going from strength to strength since she started during lockdown after gaming with her dad and brothers at home, across different rooms. Now she is expanding her horizons by breaking into presenting and hosting within the gaming world, and hopes to move beyond those boundaries soon.
