Scots pensioner who died in horror house fire on Halloween named by police

A man who died in a horror house fire on Halloween has been named by police. Peter Scott, from Brydekirk, Annan, tragically died in the incident on Monday, October 31.

Emergency services rushed to the blaze on Lady Street, Brydekirk, around 9.40am but sadly Peter could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 79-year-old's death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland statement said: "Police Scotland can confirm a man who died in a fire at a property on Lady Street, Brydekirk, Annan, on Monday, 31 October, 2022, was 79-year-old Peter Scott, from Brydekirk.

"Emergency services were called to the fire around 9.40am.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

At the time of the incident, a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said: “Sadly, a man has passed away and our thoughts are with his family and the wider community at this time.”
