Scots mum who 'has barely aged in 20 years' shares secret skincare routine

A Scots mum says she's barely aged in 20 years - and she puts it all down to her basic skincare routine. Janey Kirk, 59, says the key to her youthfulness is no chemicals on her face and a balanced diet.

She has enjoyed a long career as a singer and has modelled for magazines and catalogues since her teenage years. As Janey's got older, she's made a special effort to maintain her looks.

And now she's shared her daily routine which keeps her looking young. Janey, from Kirkcaldy, Fife, said: "Everyone calls me the Peter Pan of the singing industry because I've managed to stay looking so young.

"It's all down to my daily skin routine, eating the right foods and making sure I get plenty of sunlight without sunscreen - it makes the world of difference."

Janey started singing at six years old and now performs at theatres with her daughter Carla Burt, 29, who also sings. She has two children but says motherhood hasn't impacted her appearance, and she's still the same dress size as she was in her 20s.

Her youthfulness comes from a daily skin routine which involves no moisturiser - just the use of a hot cloth to scrub her face every morning and every night. Janey also takes nutritional yeast powder daily along with vitamin B12 to keep her body's blood and nerve cells healthy.

Her routine extends to her diet, which consists of mainly vegetables, berries and - very rarely - organic meat. Janey says she looks the same as she did 20 years ago, and puts it all down to her disciplined, healthy lifestyle.

She said: "I use no chemicals on my face at all - no moisturiser or anything like that. A hot, clean cloth to wipe my skin every morning and every night does the job perfectly.

"I take nutritional yeast powder and vitamins like clock work, and my diet is vegetables, berries and sometimes organic meat. I even do intermittent fasting throughout different points of the year, to make sure I'm managing my weight correctly.

"I only ever wear make-up when I'm doing a show, and I don't wear anything fake like nails, eyelashes or painted eyebrows - the plainer the better. It's these simple things that keep me looking so young, and more importantly, it makes me feel good."
