Scots mum in tears pleading for son to come home a month after going missing

The mother of an Edinburgh man who hasn't been seen for almost a month issued a tearful appeal begging him to come home.

Jane Campbell's son Stuart, 36, was last seen on March 22 in the Barn Park area of Wester Hailes in the south west of the capital.

Edinburgh Live reports that she and police Chief Inspector Mark Hamilton made a renewed appeal for information on Stuart's whereabouts earlier on Monday, April 18.

Fighting back tears, Jane urged anyone who may have seen or heard any news on Stuart to come forward.

She said: "Stuart: if you are watching this, please get in touch.

"We are all worried about you and just want you home safe.

"If anyone has seen Stuart or knows where he is, can you please get in touch with me or the police.

"It's been nearly four weeks now and we just want you home safe and well, Stuart.

"Please, please get in touch."

Police launched a large-scale operation to trace Stuart after he disappeared, putting up posters around the area and carrying out searches, albeit to no avail.

Ch Insp Hamilton, the local area commander for Edinburgh, has echoed the heartbroken mum's sentiments.

He told reporters: "It's almost four weeks to the day since anyone last saw Stuart.

"He was last seen in the Barn Park area of Wester Hailes on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 22.

"He's not followed any of his usual routines, and not been in touch with any of his friends or family either.

"We continue to ask the local public for their help in trying to trace Stuart.

"We've had officers out from different specialist departments, specialist searchers, our dog unit, helicopter and our diver marine unit, but so far, we've still not been able to find Stuart.

"We're also asking the public to please check their CCTV cameras. If you have a video doorbell or dashcam footage, check that too.

"No piece of information is too small, and it might be the key to finding Stuart."

Stuart is described as being around 5ft 10in in height with short brown hair.

He was understood to be wearing a dark-coloured jacket, green hooded top with white ties and grey jogging bottoms at the time of his disappearance.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1205 of 28 March, or speak to any police officer.
