A Scots man involved in a crash with a transit van on the way to visit his gran has been left shaken by the incident.
Matthew McCann was driving on busy Westfield Road, Gorgie, Edinburgh, around 12pm on Saturday when an old Ford Transit van cut across into his lane and caused damage to his Audi.
Matthew, 26, says the van appeared from nowhere as he was forced to do an emergency stop but wasn't able to avoid clipping the back of the vehicle.
His car has now been left severely damaged at the front side as he was left stranded in the middle of the road, Edinburgh Live reports.
Matthew recalled the aftermath of the incident being suspicious as he said the van entered the Sainsbury's car park opposite where the collision took place, and circled for a few minutes, before making off.
Police Scotland confirmed that they are enquiring into the full circumstances of the incident, adding they are aware that the van failed to stop after the collision.
Matthew, 26, said: "I was just coming down the West Approach road to the busy junction, it goes into two lanes, there's a car to the right of me, and all of a sudden this old rusty transit van cuts ahead of me and I'm forced to emergency stop.
"Luckily, Sainsbury's have captured footage of the van in the car park, and the police are looking into the incident."
Thankfully for Matthew, his parents live in Corstorphine, so after a ten-minute drive he was back home safely. Unfortunately though, he's having to claim off his insurance as he says the other driver made off without even checking he was okay.
Matthew added: "To be honest, I wish I had done more damage to the van so then it couldn't just drive off. I was just in shock after it happened.
"Luckily for me, the car is just for social purposes and I don't rely on it for work."
Matthew also made an appeal on Facebook to anyone in the area at the time who may have dashcam footage or witnessed the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 12pm on Saturday, 19 March, police were called to the Westfield Road area of Edinburgh, following a report of a crash involving a car and a van.
"The van did not stop at the scene and enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
