Scots man in critical condition after daytime murder bid in Rutherglen

A man is in a critical but stable condition after a serious assault in South Lanarkshire which police are treating as attempted murder.

The 40-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow at around 3pm on Sunday June 12 after the incident on Greenhill Road in Rutherglen.

Forensic officers were pictured at the scene on Monday with police conducting door door-to-door enquires and reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the area.

Officers are also asking members of the public with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Vicky Murray said: “This incident happened in the middle of the afternoon and I’m sure people will have heard or seen something.

"I am appealing to the local community to get in touch with us with any information they have, no matter how insignificant it might seem, please pass it on.

"We do not know the motive for this attack and it’s imperative we trace whoever is responsible for this crime.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1944 of 12 June 2022. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give information anonymously.
