A man has died following an early-morning crash in Clackmannanshire.
Police attending a separate incident in Tillicoultry at around 9am on Sunday spotted a black Volkswagen Golf in woodland down an embankment on the A908 at its junction with Lower Mill Street.
The driver, a 38-year-old man, was found dead inside.
He was the sole occupant of the motor.
Officers probing the death believe the car may have crashed while travelling eastbound between Sauchie and Tillicoultry, between 5am and 8am.
Police don't think there were any witnesses and the crash was not reported to the emergency services.
The road was closed for four hours while investigations were carried out.
The death is not being treated as suspicious but enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the crash.
Police expressed their condolences and urged anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward.
Constable Fraser Easton said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.
“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or been on the road in the early hours of Sunday morning contact us.
“Similarly I would appeal to anyone who has dash-cam footage to contact officers as soon as possible.
“Anyone with information can contact police via 101, quoting incident number 0962 of March 27, 2022.”
