A Coatbridge filmmaker braved one of Scotland's most haunted locations to shoot his heart-pounding new horror flick.
Director and producer Richi Booth and the team at Venom Media are excited to soon share movie Outlast with film fans when it premieres on pay-per-view next week.
Starring Richi Booth, Aurora Lyon, Callan Patrick, Emma Booth, Liam Bennett, Nathan Owens, Outlast sees a group of paranormal enthusiasts set out to investigate a haunted castle on Halloween night.
Excited to capture evidence of the afterlife, they quickly realize that the castle is even more active than anticipated.
As the night wears on and the paranormal activity intensifies, the group must use all of their knowledge and skill to outlast the supernatural forces and uncover the castle's dark history in order to escape with their lives.
Richi and his cast endured a frightening shoot for the film as they spent the night in Closeburn Castle in Thornhill - on Halloween.
He told Lanarkshire Live: "It was a spooky night to shoot a horror film made even worse by being in one of Scotland’s most haunted locations.
"The cast and crew got very scared and watched and heard things moving around, which gave the film an air of authenticity. The cast includes some talented up-and-coming actors, and the cinematography is stunning.
" Outlast is a thrilling horror movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you're a fan of the genre, this is a must-watch.
"We can't wait for you to see it, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it."
Venom Media is a small, independent filmmaking collective that aims to break into the industry with innovative concepts.
After Outlast's premiere on pay-per-view, the company hope to distribute the movie "further worldwide through a variety of platforms".
A Venom Media spokesperson said: "We believe that this film has the potential to be a great start to success and we can't wait for audiences to experience it for themselves."
Outlast will be available to watch via Venom Media's online screening service on January 12 at 9pm.
Tickets are priced £7.50 and will allow you admittance to one screening; you can access the booking portal online.
