A 'dedicated' dad who died in a horror crash involving a lorry in the Highlands has been named by police as Joe Dutfield.
Emergency crews were called to the collision involving a DAF lorry and a Peugeot 308 on the A87 between Kyle of Lochalsh and Balmacara at 3.50pm on Thursday, June 1. The father, from nearby Balmacara, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he sadly passed away.
Two young girls, aged six and 10, who were passengers in the vehicle, were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. They have since been discharged.
Mr Dutfield’s family have described him as a "dedicated" and "loving" father to his children following the tragedy.
A statement released through Police Scotland reads: "Joe was a dedicated and loving father to his girls.”
Detectives investigating the fatal crash say inquiries remain ongoing. Officers continue to appeal for anyone with any information to come forward.
Sergeant Ally MacKay, from the Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Joe’s family and friends at this very difficult time for them. Enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch with us.”
