Scots cops probing 'suspicious' death in village as they lock down street

Police say the death of a man in a house near Dunfermline is being treated as "suspicious".

Officers were called to a property on Erskine Wynd in Oakley, around four miles west of the Fife city, early on Wednesday March 22. Inside, they found the body of a man and have since erected a cordon across the street.

Forensic officers in white overalls have been seen coming in and out of the property throughout the day. Enquiries into the incident are at an early stage, but investigators are currently treating the death as having occurred in suspicious circumstances.

A local resident told the Dunfermline Press that there was a "heavy" police presence in the street.

She added: "The street has been blocked off and residents are getting turned to go back around the one way system. Police are pretty much still guarding the street."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.10am on 22 March, 2023, the body of a man was discovered at a property on Erskine Wynd, Oakley.

"Officers are currently in attendance and enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing, however the death is being treated as suspicious.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
