A manhunt has been launched for a masked sex offender who attacked a woman in a park at night.
The 6ft tall middle aged man was wearing a balaclava when he approached the woman, 46, in Powrie Park, near Cheviot Crescent, in Fintry, Dundee, last night. The man, described as having a heavy/athletic build, with broad shoulders, carried out the attack at around 7.25pm.
Police Scotland say he was wearing a black hooded zipper, black jogging bottoms and black and white trainers and made off in the direction of Jack Martin Way. A post on the force's Tayside Police Division Facebook page said CCTV footage is being gathered and reviewed for any additional information as part of the police probe.
But officers are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around this time, including two potential witnesses - a dog walker and a man on an electric bike who were seen in the park. Detective Inspector Graeme Wishart said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch.
"If anyone saw or noticed anything suspicious, or has any information on the suspect, please do get in touch with us. In particular, anyone with a dash cam is asked to check the footage as it may have captured images which could assist the investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3097 of 4 January, 2023. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
