Police have cordoned off a street in Glasgow after a car was deliberately set alight.
Emergency services were called to Gadie Street in the Riddrie Area shortly before 6am after receiving reports of a car ablaze. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent a single fire engine to the scene and put out the fire in around 20 minutes.
Police have now launched an investigation into the incident and have confirmed to Glasgow Live that they are treating the fire as wilful. An image from the scene shows the vehicle, a white Vauxhall Astra, parked at the side of the road with a damaged front bumper.
Signs of fire damage are evident towards the rear of the car, where the paintwork has been burned around the fuel filler cap. The rear tyre has also burst, potentially from the heat and pressure of the flames.
A cordon has been set up on the street blocking members of the public from entering, while a police van is also stationed at the site.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a car on fire on Gadie Street, Glasgow, around 6.10am on Friday, April 14, 2023. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We received a report of a vehicle fire on Gadie Street, Glasgow at 5.56am on Friday April 14. We mobilised one appliance to that location.
"The fire was extinguished and we left the scene at 6.14am."
