Scots cocaine trafficker agrees to hand over nearly £400k in ill-gotten gains

A cocaine trafficker yesterday agreed to hand over nearly £400,000 to settle a confiscation action brought against him.

John Robertson was jailed for three years and eight months in October after he was caught with more than 200g of the drug at a house in Blantyre, Lanarkshire.

Police also found a bag holding more than £355,040 along with two more piles of cash and a counting machine.

He was thought to be holding cash for a crime gang.

Robertson, 35, was targeted during the National Crime Agency in May 2020.

He admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine, an offence aggravated by being linked to serious organised crime.

The Crown brought a proceeds of crime action against Robertson.

The case called before Lord Boyd of Duncansby at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday. The judge heard that a settlement had been reached.

Advocate depute Dan Byrne said Robertson had made £389,850 from crime and it was agreed that should be the amount confiscated.
