Scots celebrities have paid tribute to Rock 'n' Roll legend Tina Turner after her death was announced on Wednesday.
The 83-year-old died after a long illness at her home near Zurich in Switzerland. A private funeral ceremony will be held for close friends and family.
A statement announcing her death stated:"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.
"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."
Tributes for the star have poured in from various Scottish figures.
Former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon paid tribute, dubbing the singer 'Simply The Best'.
She wrote: "She was simply the best #tinaturner"
Scots star Lulu also paid tribute to the late singer in an emotional tribute. Taking to Instagram, she penned: "I was shocked and saddened to hear of Tina Turners passing.. I cried then I remembered its her physical form we will miss because her soul , her spirit and her music will live forever."
She added: "I was so humbled when she recorded I don’t wanna Fight and said it was the story of her life , of course its my story but theres where we connected on a deep level… no differences only similarities..
"This is what she did for us all.. brought us together in music with love.. Farewell beautiful lady"
Musician, Midge Ure also paid tribute, writing: "Very sad to hear this…. Tina Turner: Music legend dies at 83"
Scots comedian Limmy posted: "The Best" while sharing a clip from a Tina Turner-inspired skit from his show.
Elsewhere, Roger Davies, the singer’s manager of 30 years, also paid tribute to the star, saying: “Tina was a unique and remarkable force of nature with her strength, incredible energy and immense talent.
“From the first day I met her in 1980, she believed in herself completely when few others did at that time.
“It was a privilege and an honour to have been a close friend as well as her manager for more than 30 years. I will miss her deeply.”
In a career spanning more than 60 years, the American-Swiss singer, who was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, won eight competitive Grammy Awards and has a star on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the St Louis Walk of Fame.
The star rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer.
She was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and had a kidney transplant a year later.
