A depraved pensioner who raped a 12-year-old girl over a four year period has died in jail.
The Scottish Prison Service announced today that William Tucker, 77, died at Low Moss Prison last week. He was convicted at Glasgow High Court in 2019 after raping and sexually abusing the child at addresses in Glasgow, Fife and Argyll between April 2008 and April 2012.
A fatal accident inquiry will now be carried out in relation to the death.
Evil Tucker was taped by the girl's parents confessing during a phone call and saying sorry after they confronted him.
It was revealed also that Tucker had a previous conviction for a sexual assalt on a 14-year-old girl during the trial in January 2019 but he moaned that he only confessed to the parents to "keep the peace" and insisted he was innocent.
Even after being convicted he claimed: “I haven't done anything wrong. I never touched the wean,” as he was led away to the cells.
A fatal accident enquiry into his death will take place in due course.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: "William Tucker, 77, a prisoner at HMP Low Moss has died on 05 October 2022. He was convicted at Glasgow High Court in 2019.
"Police Scotland have been advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
"A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
