A councillor has hit out at an Edinburgh barber shop after a collection of Nazi memorabilia was put on display.
Edinburgh Barbers, on Dalry Road, has been slammed after Third Reich insignia including swastikas and a photo of Adolf Hitler was laid out in a cabinet.
Photos show a wooden display cabinet inside the hairdressers packed with items from wartime Germany, Edinburgh Live reports.
The collection also has several stamps, Nazi uniform accessories and a number of decorations, medals and badges. Some bear the swastika while stamps have Hitler's image.
A customer, who had attended the barbers for a haircut, was left shocked by the collection.
One local resident who popped in for a trim said: "I was surprised by the Nazi paraphernalia when I first walked in.
"I wasn't expecting to be confronted with Nazi medals, no matter the context, when having your hair cut. I didn't feel intimidated or anything, it was just odd."
Independent councillor for Sighthill and Gorgie Ross McKenzie said he wanted an explanation as to why the controversial items are on show. He added: "I'd be keen to hear more from the owner about why he displays Nazi memorabilia.
"I understand that there is no law against this in the UK, but if he is in any way promoting fascist ideology then I know a lot of people are going to make it difficult for him to continue trading in Dalry."
A man claiming to be the owner of the shop defended the exhibit and told Edinburgh live the display was "just history'.
The sale of Nazi memorabilia is strictly prohibited in parts of Europe although it is not a criminal offence to sell or own Nazi memorabilia in the UK.
