A Scots Asda worker who rushed to the aid of an elderly customer who fell when he was delivering their groceries has been hailed as a "kind-hearted soul".
Home delivery driver Paul McCafferty, from Dunbar, was delivering groceries to the customer in his local area when they tripped, fell and hit their head. The helpful supermarket worker quickly stepped in to make sure that she was alright by helping her back inside.
And his helpfulness didn't stop there, as he also made her a cup of tea and stayed behind to make sure she was okay after noticing that the customer was shaken after the fall. The next day, Paul decided to check in on his customer with a bunch of flowers to make sure that she was feeling better after her stumble.
Paul said: "I was helping the customer when she suddenly fell and hit her head. I stayed and made sure she was okay before I went to my next delivery.
"I was worried about her afterwards, so I went to her house the next day to check in and she was delighted to see me. I was glad she was okay!
"I really enjoy my job, especially working with my colleagues and meeting people in the community when out on my deliveries."
The delivery driver's extra kind gesture was appreciated by the customer who was "extremely grateful" that Paul took the time out for a second visit to make sure she was alright.
And Paul's good deed did not go unnoticed, as his kind gesture has now seen him nominated for the supermarket's Service Superstar Awards by General Store Manager, Leigh Millar.
Millar said of Paul's actions: "Paul is a fantastic colleague; he is one of those people who always does everything he can for his customers.
"He is a real team player with a kind-hearted soul. He even went to customers’ houses with flowers and cards on Mother’s Day
"Paul is one in a million and we are so lucky to have him as part of our Asda family."
