Actor David Hayman has revealed he is set to appear in a new Star Wars series – after he was rumbled by suspicious locals in Argyll.
The Glasgow-born Trial and Retribution star was filming scenes in Oban for the TV show when fans recognised him.
He said: “Everything was supposed to be top secret. About 500 film crew descended on Oban, and nobody was supposed to know what was happening.
“But folk were coming up to me and asking if I was doing my Wonders of Scotland programme or Star Wars.
“Everybody knew what was happening. It was hilarious.”
The actor, 74, was shooting Andor, in which he plays a key character, and pitched up in the hills behind the town last year.
The series, a prequel spin-off of 2016 film Rogue One, stars Stellan Skarsgaard and Diego Luna.
It’s one of several parts he has coming to fruition in the coming months, including the sequel to hit comedy Fisherman’s Friend, and comic mystery My Neighbour, Adolf.
Next week, fans can see him take part in the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Jekyll and Hyde.
The new version of the legendary story has relocated from London to Edinburgh, and adapted to include characters not featured in Stevenson’s original novella such as David’s character, Sir Danvers Carew.
He said: “He’s an appalling character, a self-made man who runs a brewery and doesn’t give a toss about his employees.”
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde will be streamed to select UK cinemas from Monday, February 28.
