Scotrail suspend services from Glasgow to East Kilbride due to 'heavy rain flooding'

Scotrail have announced that services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride have been suspended today (October 6) until further notice.

It comes amid the winds and heavy downpours in the city which has caused flooding on the Clarkston line.

In the tweet they said: "Due to heavy rain flooding the railway at Clarkston all lines are closed.

"Our services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride will be suspended. I'll update you all as soon as I can."

Today, according to the Met Office, Glasgow will feel winds reaching speeds of up to 37 miles per hour by 2pm which will ease to 30mph until 10pm tonight.

From then, the speed will pick up again, reaching 36 and through the night, between 1am and 2am, the Met Office expect gales to hit a whopping 41 mph.
