SCOTRAIL has confirmed there will be widespread disruption this weekend due to heavy rain.
A yellow weather warning is currently in place for much of the east of Scotland.
In a post on Twitter/X, the train operator said: “Due to the forecasted heavy rain, this weekend, no trains will run between the Central Belt & Aberdeen/Inverness.
“Customers travelling between Edinburgh or Glasgow & Aberdeen/Inverness need to change at Perth, for travel to Inverness, or Dundee for travel to Aberdeen.”
It confirmed that train shuttle services would run between:
- Inverness & Perth
- Aberdeen & Dundee
The shuttle service will be delayed however due to speed restrictions imposed as a precaution.
It comes as the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued eight flood warnings which are currently in place across areas in Dundee and Angus and Tayside.
They include:
- Kinnaird/Bridge of Dun
- Inchbare
- Finavon and Tannadice
- Brechin
- The River Isla at Coupar Angus
- Kemphill to Bridge of Isla
- Bridge of Ruthven to Leitfie
- Aberbothrie
