SCOTRAIL has seemingly poked fun at media rumours that SNP ministers were planning to "ban cats".
On Monday, John Swinney completely rejected suggestions put forward by the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission (SAWC) – a group of independent experts – recommending the government look at potentially instituting containment areas for cats to protect local wildlife.
The First Minister said: “There’s a report being produced by an external organisation which has come in to the Government for consideration.
“Let me just clear this up today – the Government’s not going to be banning cats or restricting cats.
“We’ve no intention of doing so and we will not be doing it.”

Now, ScotRail have shared a picture of a cat at a rail station on Twitter/X with the caption: "Just so you know, we don't ban cats from using the train.
"Next stop for this one, PAWlockshields East!"
Others users on the social media platform were quick to respond with their own cat jokes.
One person replied, saying: "Could that be a station on the Cathcat Circle ? Travelling to Puurrth?"
While another said: "If you hadn't switched from iron to steel rails, you could have named the route the fe-line."
