ScotRail issues travel advice with Highland Main Line still closed

SCOTRAIL has issued travel advice for people across the country with yellow warnings still in place.

The rail operator said that the Far North Line between Inverness and Wick/Thurso will remain closed due to land slips.

Network Rail meanwhile has now confirmed that the Highland Main Line is still shut this morning and encouraged anyone who had been planning to travel on this to check with either ScotRail or LNER for updates on their journey.

In a statement, Network Rail Scotland said: "Water levels on the Balavil Burn in Kingussie remain too high for our engineers to inspect the structure for damage caused by the flooding."

It estimated that it would take at least six hours for water levels to come down.

Other services from Glasgow Queen Street (9.42am) and Edinburgh to Inverness (10.50am) will be terminating at Perth with replacement buses taking people the rest of the way.
