ScotRail issues Edinburgh Saturday travel update ahead of 'very limited service'

ScotRail has issued an update to passengers ahead of its "very limited service" on Saturday due to industrial action taking place.

On October 29, ScotRail members of the RMT will strike for 24 hours following a pay dispute, which will lead to major disruption to the operator's services.

While the majority of routes will not run on Saturday, there will be a limited service between Milngavie and Edinburgh Waverley via Glasgow Queen Street.

Taking to Twitter, ScotRail wrote: "Due to strike action on Saturday, 29 October, we're only able to operate a very limited service between 07.30 & 18.30 on the following three routes:

  • Milngavie – Edinburgh Waverley via Glasgow Queen St Low Level
  • Glasgow Central – Lanark
  • Glasgow Central – Larkhall

There will be two trains an hour departing from Edinburgh Waverley that will travel through Glasgow Queen Street. The full timetable for Saturday can be found here.

On its website, ScotRail states: "We are only able to provide this very limited service due to the number of contingency staff required to cover the shifts of those on strike.

"This means there will be no service except on routes connecting East Dunbartonshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and connecting Glasgow and South Lanarkshire.

"For the routes which will operate a service, you should only travel if you really need to and should consider alternative options where possible."
