ScotRail adding extra services from Bellahouston Park for Muse and Guns N' Roses

ScotRail has added extra services and seats as the city prepares for a music filled weekend.

The extra planning will help fans travelling to and from Bellahouston Park for upcoming concerts over the next week.

Muse take to the stage on Friday, June 23, followed by Arctic Monkeys on Sunday, June 25, before Guns N' Roses rock out on Tuesday, June 27.

To help revellers to and from gigs, ScotRail is adding extra carriages to a number of trains on the Paisley Canal route, as well additional shuttle services between Dumbreck and Glasgow Central.

From 10pm on Friday, 23 June and Tuesday, 27 June, buses will replace trains between Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal, calling at all stations except Corkerhill. This will allow special train services to run between Dumbreck and Glasgow Central only, to get fans home after the concerts.

Replacement buses are unable to access Corkerhill station due to road restrictions imposed by Glasgow City Council. Customers travelling to and from Corkerhill should use Mosspark station instead. No buses are in operation after the Arctic Monkeys gig, due to services on the Paisley Canal route winding down from 6pm on Sundays.

Customers should be aware that they may not be able to board the first train that they go for, so they should allow additional time for travel. ScotRail is encouraging fans to plan their journey in advance and buy their return tickets for travel through the ScotRail app.

Concert goers are advised to head back to Dumbreck station - the closest station to the park - as soon as the concerts end, as a queuing system will be in place. The train operator will have extra staff on hand to assist customers, who are also reminded that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and inside ScotRail stations.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “There are some really popular acts performing at Bellahouston Park over the next few days, and we’re really looking forward to helping music lovers travel to see their favourite bands.

“We’re adding lots of extra services for each of the concerts and thousands of extra seats, but trains will still be very busy, so people should plan their journeys in advance.

“Buying a return ticket to Dumbreck in advance via the ScotRail app will help make your journey run smoothly.

“We’d ask anyone travelling home by train to be mindful of our neighbours when you’re making your way back to the station.”
