Scotland youth international Kenzie Weir follows in father's footsteps by winning professional contract with Everton

SCOTLAND youth internationalist Kenzie Weir has followed in her father's footsteps by winning her first professional contract with Everton.

The 18-year-old central defender has signed a three year deal.

Weir, who has played for Scotland at under-16 and under-19 level, made her first team debut in January. She is the daughter of former Scotland defender David Weir, who joined Everton from Hearts in 1999 and went on to captain the side before joining Rangers.

“My dad obviously played for and captained the team, and it has been a club that I have grown up with,” Weir said. “He helps me and he has got experience with the club and how football works, but my whole family are so supportive.”
