Scotland weather: Scotland set to be hotter than Barcelona

SCOTS are set to see temperatures soar next week as the mercury will reach as high as 20C in parts of the country, making it hotter than Barcelona.

The Met Office has forecasted temperatures of 11C on Saturday in Edinburgh, with a short spell of rain in the afternoon, while it is due to get even hotter at 15C on Sunday.

But it is good news for those in the capital as the temperature gauge will climb throughout next week, hitting 19C on both Wednesday and Thursday and remaining sunny until at least Friday.

It is even better news for those in Glasgow as it is forecast to be even hotter, with the Met Office expecting temperatures to reach as high as 20C on Thursday.

Next week, Scotland is expected to see its hottest day so far for 2025, meaning both Edinburgh and Glasgow will be officially hotter than Barcelona throughout parts of next week.

The Spanish coastal city is forecast to only hit highs of 17C and 18C across Wednesday and Thursday.

Scots in other parts of the country will also be treated to some spring sunshine, with Dundee forecast to reach 17C across Wednesday and Thursday.

Aberdeen is also forecast to hit a high of 15C next week and will remain sunny from Tuesday to Friday.

The Met Office said: “From the start of April, settled weather is expected to cover much of the UK. Most places are expected to be dry with clear or sunny spells and light winds.

“Inland areas will see a general day-on-day warming next week. It will probably remain slightly cooler near coastal areas, with an additional risk of mist or sea fog affecting parts of the east coast.

“There is a chance for more unsettled and perhaps cooler weather for a time. However, the main signal is for dry and fine weather across the country during this period. Temperatures will likely be around or above normal and feeling warm during the day, and some cold nights are still possible when skies are clear.”
