Scotland weather forecast this week after 23C scorcher over Jubilee bank holiday

Scotland was treated to glorious weather over the bank holiday weekend - and the sunshine is set to continue this week.

The Platinum Jubilee weekend saw Scotland's hottest day so far in 2022 with the village of Drumnadrochit in the Highlands sizzling at 23.3C on Saturday.

Scots will be happy to hear that even more good weather is in store with the Met Office forecasting a dry and warm start to this week.

Scots who have taken some extra time off following the Jubilee bank holiday will be able to bask in some more sunshine with the good weather continuing onto Monday.

The Met Office's latest report saw parts of Scotland reach 21.7C on Sunday - and the Met Office has forecasted that Scotland will continue to see sunshine moving into this week.

The Met Office tweeted that the weather will be "largely dry and bright across Scotland".

Those who want to hit the parks to soak up the sun will likely have it better than those further south, with the good weather disproportionately affecting Scotland.

It comes after a yellow weather warning was issued for thunderstorms in parts of England and Wales over the weekend with heavy rainfall.

Luckily Scotland avoided the storms and was treated to some the best of the weather over the weekend.

On Sunday, the Met Office said: "Parts of Northern Ireland and especially Scotland enjoyed the lion's share of the sunshine".

It appears that this is set to continue moving into this week as the best of the weather probably shifts from northwest Scotland to south eastern UK.
