Scotland is in for some tropical weather as forecasters predict temperatures as high as 21C in parts of the country this weekend.
The sunny snap would make the country hotter than Ibiza, which according to the Met Office will only reach highs of 19C on Saturday, May 13. Both Glasgow and Inverness could reach the 20C mark in the mid afternoon on Saturday, Met Office forecasters have predicted.
However, BBC weather suggests that it could get even hotter, with a sizzling peak of 21C forecasted for Inverness tomorrow. "Tomorrow morning will see clear skies and plenty of sunshine," states the current BBC forecast. "Similar conditions through the afternoon with just a few patches of light cloud developing."
Unfortunately, it isn't expected to be quite as hot for some other major cities in the county, with the Met Office having Edinburgh as peaking at 17C and Aberdeen a huge 10C chillier at just 11C.
The Met Office forecast states: "Low cloud becoming confined to North Sea coasts. Plenty of sunshine for most parts and feeling warm in light winds."
However, those with plans to get out should do so on Saturday, as conditions could become increasingly grey and damp towards the end of the weekend.
"Sunny spells in the south Sunday after a murky start, but with rain spreading across northern areas," adds the Met Office.
So far, the highest temperature in Scotland has been 21.2C in Kinlochewe, April 17, reports the Guardian.
Last year, the country experienced its hottest ever day, when it reached a truly scorching 35.1Cin Charterhall, in the Scottish Borders, on Tuesday, July 19.
This was more than 2C above the August 2003 record of 32.9C at Greycrook in the Scottish Borders.
On the same day last year, 21.3C was recorded as the highest minimum temperature in Scotland. It was logged at Nunraw Abbey in East Lothian.
