Scotland will play Spain at Edinburgh’s Hive Stadium on Saturday 30 September in a warm-up match for the new WXV tournament.
Bryan Easson’s side qualified for the second tier of the new global competition by finishing third in this year’s Women’s Six Nations. WXV2 will be held in South Africa in October and will also include the hosts, Italy, Samoa, Japan and the USA.
Spain lost to the Italians in a play-off this week and will be in WXV3, to be held in Dubai in December. The top six teams in the world will play in WXV1 in New Zealand from late October.
Kick-off time for the game against Spain has yet to be announced. Tickets will go on public sale online on Thursday 10 August.
