A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office as forecasters predict heavy showers across parts of Scotland.
The alert comes as experts expect disruption due to wet weather and thundery conditions with a chance of hail. Rainfall totals of up to 30mm per hour are possible in some areas this evening.
The warning begins 5pm on Monday, May 8, remaining until 11pm as heavy showers continue throughout the evening. Areas of flooding are expected with difficult driving conditions as a result of wet weather. Potential damage to homes and buildings is also being warned due to lightning strikes throughout the night.
It comes as much of Scotland suffers a day full of rain and drizzle, with cloudy conditions and showers throughout.
Misty conditions linger across Scotland's coasts today, with foggy patches across the country before downpours are set to continue into the evening, according to the Met Office.

What to expect
The Met Office expects there to be some flooding across the areas impacted, potentially impacting homes and businesses. The forecast also predicts some damage to buildings or structures following lightning strikes this evening.
Driving conditions are likely to become difficult due to spray on the roads, impacting journey times by car and bus. Train services may also see delays due to flooding or line issues following lightning.
Some areas may also lose power.
