Scotland set for 20C temperatures as warm weather arrives in time for coronation weekend

Scotland is set to enjoy temperatures of 20C in the coming days as sunny conditions arrive.

Just in time for the bank holiday weekend the Met Office is forecasting pleasant conditions for parts of the country, with northwest Scotland to enjoy the best of the spring weather during Saturday.

Things are expected to be a little unsettled as we reach King Charles' coronation weekend, with Saturday presenting a cloudy, wet day for many. Showers will be widespread over central, easter and northern areas of the UK.

However, more northern areas are to experience much drier and warmer weather other the weekend, according to forecasters.

Sunday is set to start off dry and bright for much of the country, with the risk of some cloudier conditions and drizzle in the east.

Western and central parts will enjoy a mainly dry day with sunny spells, as the pleasant weather eventually spreads across all areas after some cloud over eastern areas.

The pleasant conditions will travel down and to western areas of Scotland as bank holiday Monday arrives.

Eastern areas will start out mostly dry but murky clouds will fill the sky. Showers will then begin before sweeping eastwards throughout the day bringing widespread rain.

Northern areas of Scotland are expected to be the driest and warmer, with dry weather to follow in western parts as Monday progresses.

Patchy rain and drizzle is forecast for higher areas, with winds set to be moderate creating fresher conditions and temperatures near average as the new week begins.

The remainder of the week remain will be unsettled with the risk of heavier showers and possible thundery outbreaks, particularly on Tuesday Wednesday.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said: “An area of rain is expected to move into southwest England early on Saturday, moving northeast through the day with some heavy bursts at times.

This is likely to bring some rain to London from mid-morning. Further north in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland it will be a day of sunshine and showers before the more persistent rain moves northwards overnight.

Under the cloud and rain, temperatures will be subdued with 16 °C in London, whilst 20 °C is likely in sunnier northwest Scotland.”
