Scotland's top 10 most expensive streets unveiled - and they are all in Edinburgh

The most expensive streets to live on in Scotland have been revealed - and all of the top 10 are located in Edinburgh.

The Scottish capital is known for having among the highest property prices in the UK, with new research confirming that some streets in particular will set buyers back more than £1.5 million on average.

According to the Bank of Scotland, Ann Street in Stockbridge is the priciest street in Scotland, with properties fetching an average of £1,685,000 between January 2017 and September 2022.

It is known for its stunning aesthetics and classic Georgian architecture, and is considered one of the most desirable and prestigious residential addresses in Edinburgh. It was also said to be the Queen Mother's favourite street in the capital.

Following in second place, with an average property price of £1,615,000, is Wester Coates Avenue west of the city centre. Meanwhile, in third place is Regent Terrace on the upper south side of Calton Hill, where a house will set you back £1,529,000 on average.

Rounding out the top five are Danube Street in Stockbridge and Heriot Row in the city centre, where properties cost an average of £1,449,000 and £1,331,000 respectively. The latter is almost unchanged since its construction in 1802, more than 200 years ago.

Wester Coates Gardens, St. Catherine’s Place, Spylaw Bank Road, Hope Terrace, and St Bernard's Crescent fill out the remainder of the top 10. Overall, homes on these Edinburgh streets have an asking price of an average £1.4 million.

Other destinations to appear on the list include St Andrews, North Berwick, and Musselburgh.

According to the Bank of Scotland, only streets where there have been at least five transactions over the period were included in the research. The transactions data was sourced from the Registry of Scotland.

Commenting on the research, mortgages director at Bank of Scotland Graham Blair said: “Ann Street in the beautiful city of Edinburgh tops the most expensive list, setting wealthy buyers back almost £1.7 million on average. While not in the top 10 priciest, homes in St Andrews also don’t come cheap, with The Scores and Donaldson Crescent offering properties at over £1.1million on average.”
