Scotland's restaurant of the year named at global culinary awards

A Scottish fine-dining restaurant has been awarded the title of the country's 'Best Restaurant' for the second year running at the third annual World Culinary Awards.

Located in Leith, Edinburgh, The Kitchin bagged the award at the prestigious ceremony which recognises international culinary excellence.

The Michelin star eatery, run by top chef Tom Kitchin, boasts a menu which prides itself on serving traditional Scottish fare made with the nation's finest produce.

The winners of all regions were crowned by a public vote at a fancy event, hosted at luxury resort Onze in Dubai, reports Edinburgh Live.

Speaking on the win, Kitchin said: “It’s an honour to be recognised with this accolade. Not only is the World Culinary Awards renowned as a global celebration of great gastronomy, but it’s even more of an honour to have been voted Scotland’s Best Restaurant by our guests.

"It’s something that we feel really proud of and is testament to the entire team and their shared passion for what we do. This is a brilliant way to end the year and encourages us to continue to enhance the guests’ dining experience into 2023 and beyond.”

Director of the World Culinary Awards, Rina van Staden, added: “Our World Culinary Awards 2022 winners represent those brands pushing the boundaries of culinary excellence. My congratulations to each of them.”
