SCOTLAND’S first cat cafe is looking for a new member of staff to join their team.
The custom-designed cafe, Maison de Moggy in Edinburgh, allows cat lovers to play and spend time with a group of cats while they enjoy coffee and a cake.
Alongside baristas and kitchen staff, the cafe also employs a full-time cat nanny to look after the cats and is currently hiring for the position.
The job was advertised on the cafe’s social media channels along with the caption: “Fancy the cat nanny life? Or a bit of ‘new year, new job!’ feeling? We are currently looking for a full-time cat nanny to join our team - if you think you have what it takes, apply online via the ‘Working With Us’ section on our website.”
All of the cats have been raised from kittens by the same woman and permanently live at the cafe.
On its website, the job advert reads: “The role would suit someone who is looking to work with us and our amazing feline family on a long-term basis, is passionate about hospitality, and wants to create a memorable experience for visitors in a fast-paced and extremely dynamic workplace.
The position is advertised as paying the Real Living Wage and is contracted for 36 hours a week across 5 working days.
The advert also states: “Unfortunately it’s not playing with cats all day. There’s a bit of cat play, a lot of customer service, cleaning and cat care. You are there as the cats’ advocate, to make sure they’re safe and happy.
“As a nanny you need to ensure the cafe’s rules are adhered to whilst making sure guests feel welcome and comfortable: it can be a tricky balance.”
Several social media users described the position as a "dream job" under the cafe's Facebook post.
One said simply: "This would be my dream job."
