Scotland's Christmas Home of the Year accolade won by show superfan

A SUPERFAN of the popular BBC programme Scotland's Home of the Year has been named the winner of this year's Christmas edition for her stunning farmhouse in Lanarkshire.

Angela Breen and her husband Mark triumphed after transforming their rundown Victorian mansion in Lesmahagow into a festive wonderland.

Show judge Anna Campbell Jones said their four-year restoration has produced the “perfect Scottish Christmas home”.

She added that she and her husband have watched every episode since the show started all the way back in 2019.

However, she said: "Never in our wildest dreams did we think we could ever be considered for taking part in the show, never mind winning."

After a gruelling number of years, Angela said: "Winning is the best compliment, and the recognition for all our hard work is gratefully received. We are absolutely delighted.”

Judges Banjo Beale and architect Danny Campbell were enchanted by the home with the former saying the house was the one he had been “promised in the storybooks as a kid”.

Campbell praised the couple for making “every inch twinkle with festive magic".

Show winner Angela added: “When we got the news, there was a moment of disbelief before the house erupted in excited squeals and jumping. It has been a wonderful experience for all involved.

“Our winning trophy is centrally showcased on our sideboard for all to see. Every time we get a glimpse of it, we can’t help but smile.

“It’s a reminder of a special milestone in our lives and beautiful memories that were created along the way.”

Scotland's Home of the Year will return to BBC One Scotland and BBC iPlayer for its seventh series in 2025.
