Scotland's biggest art market heads to Glasgow this autumn

SCOTLAND'S biggest contemporary art market returns to Glasgow this October – with more than 100 Scottish artists set to feature.

The Art Car Boot Sale will be hosted at Tramway as it heads to the city's southside for the first time.

Presented by Patricia Fleming Gallery, the showcase is now in its sixth year.

Drawings, paintings, prints, sculpture, photography and ceramics will all be on offer as a mix of emerging and established artists come together under one roof.

Patricia Fleming, the director of the gallery and the event, said: “Glasgow is known for its DIY art culture and so we’re proud to present an alternative to the traditional art fair model by making, buying/selling art, accessible for both artists and audiences.

“We’re excited to be delivering a snapshot of one of the most dynamic contemporary art scenes in Europe, and keeping a spotlight on Scotland.”

Since its launch in 2018, the Art Car Boot Sale has been a popular showcase of art, with the allure of speaking to artists directly and purchasing their work from their cars, bikes and skateboards.

With prices ranging from £5 to £5000, the event has been curated by industry professionals and will feature both local and internationally renowned artists.

Artists associated with prizes such as Beck’s Future, Turner Prize and the Freelands Award are all scheduled to partake in the event.

The names confirmed for the event so far are Michael Clarence, Ruth Ewan, Sally Hackett, Ilana Halperin, Chris Leslie, Tessa Lynch, Scott Myles, Katie Orton, Toby Paterson, Baldvin Ringsted, Matthew Arthur Williams and Kate V Robertson.

This sixth edition will run from October 26 to October 27.
