Scotland records UK's hottest and coldest temperatures in same day

SCOTLAND recorded both the hottest and coldest temperatures in the UK on the same day.

Temperatures soared to 25.5C in Aviemore and Kinlochewe on Wednesday, yet some parts of Scotland also recorded below freezing temperatures overnight.

The swing in conditions means that Scotland recorded both the highest and lowest temperatures of the day across the whole of the UK.

Altnaharra recorded a high of 25.1C, whilst Aboyne’s temperatures saw a huge contrast as it dropped to a low of -0.2C overnight after reaching highs of 24.2C during the day.

Elsewhere, Braemar dropped to freezing and Balmoral dropped to 0.5C.

It comes after Scotland has seen a spell of good weather over the last few days, with temperatures forecast to drop back down to around 14C over the weekend.

The average temperature in Scotland in September ranges from 7C to 17C.
