SCOTLAND is not part of the UK, according to an Amazon customer support agent.
A well-miffed Reddit user posted their infuriating interaction with the company after they were denied access to Amazon Household.
Screenshots of the chat showed the dispute escalating before the customer asked to speak with a supervisor.
They had previously been told that the service is “not eligible for Scotland customers”.
The supervisor then took things further by claiming Scotland’s constitutional situation was comparable with that of Gibraltar or the Isle of Man, which are crown dependencies, or of Ireland, which is independent of the UK.
Bit confused there but we’ll take it.
The screenshot showed the supervisor saying the customer must be “physically located in the UK” to use Amazon Household, to which the customer replied: “I am physically located in the UK.”
The Amazon employee replied: “You are required to be physically in the UK not like other digital content eligibility like Ireland, Scotland, Gibraltar and Isle of Man.”
Amazon has since had to back down from its firebrand constitutional stance.
Asked by The National whether the company considered Scotland an independent country, an Amazon spokesperson said: “I can confirm Amazon Household is available in all of the UK. This was just an error from the customer service agent.”
