And Steve Clarke 's team will also take on the USA and Iran if they can make it past Ukraine and Wales.
The Scots are yet to find out if they will be at the finals with the ongoing situation in Ukraine delaying their playoff final until June at the earliest.
But the World Cup draw took place on Friday with that spot yet to be decided as Wales lie in wait for the winners.
And whoever makes it through the playoff know they will face England in Qatar.
Also lying in wait are a resurgent US side who qualified despite defeat to Costa Rica in their final game.
The Islamic Republic of Iran hold the final Group B spot.
Elsewhere Germany have been drawn alongside Spain in Group E in one of the most high profile group clashes.
