Ryan Gauld captained Vancouver Whitecaps to a third-successive Canadian Championship on Wednesday night.
The Whitecaps and Toronto FC couldn’t be separated after playing out a 0-0 draw at BC Stadium in front of over 54,000 fans but the team represented by two Scots triumphed 4-2 winners on penalties.
The one-time Dundee United prodigy capped off a month in which he earned a long-awaited Scotland recall and went on to register two international caps against Poland and Portugal.
At club level, the 28-year-old has taken a somewhat nomadic route to get where he is, yet it appears to be paying off with the midfielder helping Vancouver defeat Toronto FC through a tense penalty shootout in the 2024 Canadian Championship final.
That result earned Gauld's team a place in the next edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup.

Fellow Scot, Stuart Armstrong, who made the move to North America over the summer, also featured as a late substitute appearance during the clash.
The 32-year-old left Southampton earlier this year but has been restricted to minutes from the bench so far.

Both Armstrong and Gauld will hope they can play their way intoGauld appears to be back in the plans - should he overcome a hamstring issue that saw him limping through to the end of the cup win.
However, after not featuring for his country since Euro 2024, it remains to be seen where Armstrong's international future lies.
