The list of this year's Asian Curry Awards has been revealed with a record number of nominees soon to be whittled down by online public vote before judges determine who will win and be honoured at an awards ceremony.
The presentation is due to take place at London’s Grosvenor House on November 20 with the event being sponsored by Just Eat.
A number of Scottish eateries have been nominated with two in Glasgow including Charcoals, Swadish By Ajay Kumar.
And in addition to this, the announcement of the creation of an inaugural Pat Chapman Memorial Award was also made to honour its long-time chairman of judges who sadly died in July.

This year winners will also be included in the Asian Catering Federation's (ACF) new ‘One Hundred Top Curry Restaurants’ guide, which is being published currently, region–by–region across the UK with a printed version being available next year.
The event, organised by the ACF, which represents the nation’s 30,000 restaurant and takeaways, are the only accolades acknowledging the full panoply of Asian cuisines, is widely regarded as the sector’s most prestigious.
The Asian Curry Awards cover all Asian and Oriental cuisines: Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.
This year’s London entries for the elite fining dining category are: Amaya, Benares, Cinnamon Club, Colonel Saab, Grand Trunk Road, Hakkasan, and Jamavar. A full list of regional and cuisine entries is available on line. The awards are also supported by Cobra Beer and Work Permit Cloud.
In a bid to help local businesses, Yawar Khan, Chairman of the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), has urged the public to cast their votes as a prestigious accolade can have a significant boost to an establishment’s bottom line.
And with the ongoing cost of living crisis, restaurateurs are now facing a ‘quadruple whammy’ of rising food prices, increased energy costs, staff shortages and customers who themselves are experiencing the cost-of-living crisis.
He added: "Every week I hear from another owner closing their restaurant because they cannot see an end in sight to the economic situation – but an award win can bring a massive upsurge in trade.
"For customers wanting to help their favourite restaurants survive, their votes can be crucial.”
Foodies can now vote for their favourite Asian restaurants and takeaways via www.asiancurryawards.com.
