Big hearted Tartan Army fans have raised almost £400,000 for UNICEF’s fundraising appeal for Ukraine.
The SFA will this week announce a final total of funds gathered from last Thursday’s friendly draw with Poland which was a show of solidarity with the war-torn nation.
Record Sport understands a donation of £10 from every ticket sold has brought in £375,000 and that figure has been swelled by a text number and special donate button on the SFA web page ahead of the game.
These essential funds will support families in Ukraine and those who have been displaced to neighbouring countries such as Poland by the Russian invasion.
Scotland fans were quick to give their backing to last week’s game as the SFA and Polish FA jointly launched the charity initiative which will help ensure child health and protection services are sustained and that families have clean water and nutritious food.
The match was arranged following FIFA’s decision to postpone Scotland’s World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final against Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict, and the cancellation of Poland’s scheduled tie with Russia.
