A man at the centre of a missing person probe has taunted the detectives hunting for him.
They issued an appeal for information about Lee Andrew Martin, 22, in connection with incidents in Ayrshire. Martin’s friend, named locally as James Munro, was injured following a serious assault earlier this month.
The 20-year-old was treated in hospital in for a head injury sustained during the attack in Ardrossan, which was broadcast on Snapchat. A car was then set alight and gunshots fired in a street.
Chief Inspector Gillian Grant said officers were “becoming increasingly concerned for Lee’s welfare”
But Martin wrote on an online platform: “F***ing bams. I’m not missing just can’t find me. Pure embarrassing”.
Police said the incidents, on August 12 and 13, were “linked and targeted”. Martin disappeared a week after Munro was attacked.
A source said: “He went on to Snapchat boasting about being on the run and admitting he’s hiding from them.”
Kristoffer McDowall, 19, and his dad Robert, 41, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday in connection with the incidents and were released on bail.
McDowall jnr was charged with assault to severe injury and drugs possession. His dad faces a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.
