Perth Scorchers great Jason Behrendorff will play for the Melbourne Renegades next season in a blockbuster move to begin the BBL's player movement window.
Despite Behrendorff taking the most wickets - 17 - in the recently completed BBL tournament, the Scorchers were unable to compete with the Renegades' three-year deal for the left-arm quick.
Having taken 140 wickets - the fifth-most in BBL history - across winning four titles with Perth, Behrendorff will massively boost the Renegades' bowling stocks.
"Moving to Melbourne was something my wife, Juvelle, and I have talked about as a goal whether the end of my career happened, so to continue my career and play cricket in a city we both love is a blessing," said Behrendorff, who was named in this year's BBL team of the tournament.
"I am really excited for what the next chapter holds with the Melbourne Renegades, but just as importantly for my family too."
Fellow Scorchers great Andrew Tye and Australia's T20 captain Mitch Marsh also remain unsigned out of Perth.
Adelaide's Chris Lynn, the competition's all-time leading run-scorer, and Renegades pace ace Kane Richardson could also be on the move.
Big-hitting Tim David, who featured in Hobart's maiden BBL title win, is a free agent and is sure to attract interest.
But the Hurricanes' title defence will be well placed after re-signing breakout star Mitch Owen, captain Nathan Ellis and express quick Riley Meredith.
Former Australia Test player Matt Renshaw is also a free agent, but is expected to re-sign with the Brisbane Heat.
BBL clubs were only allowed to sign a maximum of 10 players before the trade window opened.
The player movement window closes on February 6 when clubs can only have a maximum of 12 players on their list.
A contracting embargo will then take hold, with no clubs allowed to sign any players until at least March.
